About Us

U3A - the University of the Third Age - is an international movement that encourages people to take part in lifelong learning activities for pleasure. U3A allows people to enjoy educational, creative, social and leisure activities in a relaxed environment at low cost. There are no prior qualifications, no exams and no degrees awarded.

Yarra City U3A started in May 2005, and has about 200 members so far. We are a young organisation, still very open to new ideas and very welcoming of new members. Members can be tutors, learners, administrative workers, or all three. Activities are held during the day, during school hours and school terms, in various venues in Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton, Nth Carlton, Fitzroy and Nth Fitzroy. We are an incorporated association.
